Privacy Policy
How The Digital Briefing handles personal data and privacy choices.
Last updated: June 19, 2026
The Digital Briefing is a brand operated by an independent service provider. This policy applies to this website, its English and Malay pages, newsletters, comments, contact forms and related advertising features.
Data we collect
We collect information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, message, newsletter status and comments. We also process technical and security data such as IP address, browser and device information, referrer, page URL, timestamps, consent choices and campaign parameters.
Why we use data
We use data to answer enquiries, provide requested services, send confirmed newsletter updates, operate comments, remember privacy choices, measure and improve the website, display advertising where permitted, prevent spam and fraud, enforce IP bans, keep security records and comply with legal obligations. Depending on your location, processing is based on consent, a requested contract or pre-contract steps, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, or legal obligations.
Newsletter, contact forms and comments
Newsletter signups may require email confirmation and include an unsubscribe link. Contact and consultation records are deduplicated by email or phone. Comments are stored by WordPress with the submitted identity, content and IP address. Do not submit confidential, regulated or unnecessary personal information through public comments.
Spam prevention and IP bans
Forms and comments use honeypots, request limits and Cloudflare Turnstile. Suspected bots may be marked as spam, and exact IPv4 or IPv6 addresses may be blocked. These controls protect the service and other visitors; they are not used for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Cookies, consent and advertising
Necessary storage supports security and privacy choices. Advertising helps fund this free site. Contextual or limited ads may be displayed without optional advertising storage where permitted. Personalised advertising and optional analytics are controlled by applicable consent signals. Advertising may involve Google AdSense and alternative ad providers. In regions requiring consent, a Google-certified consent management platform may communicate choices using the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. See the Cookie Notice for details.
Who receives data
Data may be processed by WordPress and hosting providers, email and SMTP providers, Cloudflare Turnstile, consent-management services, analytics providers if enabled, Google and other advertising providers if enabled, and professional advisers or authorities when legally required. We do not sell contact or newsletter lists. Advertising disclosures required by US state law are handled through consent and opt-out controls.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on contractual safeguards, adequacy decisions, provider data-protection terms or another lawful transfer mechanism.
Retention
Pending newsletter signups are flagged for review after 30 days. Contact records are flagged after 24 months without interaction. Bot and IP-ban records are flagged after 12 months. Active subscriber data is kept until unsubscribe; a minimal suppression record may be kept for 24 months afterward. Published comments may remain while the related content is published. Cleanup is reviewed manually, and data may be retained longer where reasonably needed for security, disputes or law.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent or information about processing. You may exercise rights available under applicable data-protection laws. EEA, UK and Swiss users may also contact their supervisory authority. Residents of California and other US states may use applicable access, correction, deletion and opt-out rights. We honour recognised browser Global Privacy Control signals for optional analytics and advertising personalisation on this site; contextual or limited ads may still be shown.
Security, children and changes
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online system is completely secure. The service is not directed to children under 13, and optional advertising or consent-based processing is not knowingly targeted to children. We may update this policy when services, providers or legal requirements change.
